The accelerating pace with which newer digital tools and behavior replace yesterday's models is mind-boggling. Relative to technological advances, it's no longer 20 or even 10 years that separate generations, but two or three. This idea--fact, actually--hit harder as I looked at reports from the most recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where one manufacturer after another unveiled one evolved digital gizmo after another intending to shock and awe the attendees.
